Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • If you are a COMPENSATION professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you!  As the Director of Global Compensation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organization’s compensation strategy and ensuring equitable and competitive pay practices worldwide.  You will support the organization’s Total Rewards transformation, lead the design of global programs, provide consultation on local programs, and support the VP, Total Rewards in creation of materials for the Compensation Committee.  Reporting directly to the Vice President of Total Rewards, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and drive initiatives that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. 

     

    AS Director of Global Compensation, YOU WILL:

    • Lead the design and delivery of global compensation programs
    • Consult with business units on local compensation program design and execution
    • Partner with peers and the VP, Total Reward to create and maintain a global total reward philosophy and strategy 
      • Includes developing and implementing a comprehensive global compensation framework aligned with business objectives
      • Utilize framework to drive consistency across business units
    • Create and execute multi-year plans to support Total Reward, HR, and business transformation 
    • Analyze industry trends and recommend adjustments to compensation programs as needed
    • Partner with senior leadership to design and administer executive compensation programs
    • Support the creation of high-quality materials for the Compensation Committee
    • Manage global mobility program and expatriate compensation
    • Support M&A due diligence and integration
    • Lead communications efforts regarding compensation programs, design, and philosophy
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to compensation

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: 

    • Prior experience designing global compensation programs
    • Experience with executive compensation and equity programs
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret market data
    • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
    • Proven experience mentoring & leading other employees
    • Experience building a high performing team
    • Experience with organizational change and implementation of new TR programs & processes
    • Outstanding organizational skills and a can-do demeanor that shows persistence despite obstacles and setbacks
    • Willingness and flexibility to take on special projects in support of the broader HR agenda and strategy
    • Ability to produce quality results in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment
    • Maintains composure and efficiency in stressful situations
    • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Legal Authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: 

    • Ten (10) years of progressive Total Rewards experience, including five (5) years of leadership experience 
    • Prior experience in a large global company and/or in reward consulting
    • Prior experience supporting M&A and/or taking a company through an IPO
    • Experience with Workday HCM
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
    • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) designation is a plus

     

    Location:

    Ideally, this role will be based in St. Louis.  However, the role can be hybrid/flexible with candidates willing to travel on a regular basis to St. Louis and/or other company locations. St. Louis is the host of Copeland's global corporate headquarters.
