Compensation and Benefits Director manages the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Being a Compensation and Benefits Director develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Director manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers. Maintains and enhances the organizations’ benefit planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and benefit resources policies, programs and best practices.
Essential Duties
Enhances the organization’s benefits by planning, implementing, and evaluating benefit relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
Manages the day-to-day operations of Benefits and Leave of Absence teams
Partners with benefits broker to evaluate and compare existing company benefits with those of other employers.
Complete all activities to ensure benefit plans are compliant with ERISA, DOL & state reporting requirements, including non-discrimination testing, 401(k) 5500 reporting/filing and Summary Annual Report creation.
Analyzes trends and metrics in benefits to develop solutions, programs and policies.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of benefits, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
Responsible for the full project management of benefits programs, including preparing communications and promotional materials, content for training and use of other communication to employees.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by regularly reviewing industry publications, attending educational seminars/workshops, and utilizing appropriate HR tools and resources.
Communicates with Unions regarding benefit changes when needed and attend Union meetings relating to Union employee benefits.
Learn and maintain knowledge of all benefit programs within Workday and work closely with configuration team to correct/update benefit set up.
Plan and implement annual Open Enrollment for Union and non-Union benefits.
Work with the HRBP team to ensure proper training and knowledge is provided at the facility level.

Qualification
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, and/or relevant work experience Manager or similar role.
Above average written and verbal communication skills required.
Must have experience working in multi-states and understanding state specific employment regulations.
Solid understanding of labor legislation.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have above average knowledge/skills in Microsoft Office Suite, payroll systems and human resource systems.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.
