Community Health Director is responsible for developing plans for community-based health programs aimed at the prevention of disease and promotion of health. Recommends community health initiatives, policy implications and best practices after reviewing health literature and statistics. Being a Community Health Director identifies community health program related grant funding and develops grant proposals. Manages specific community health programs from planning and design through implementation and evaluation. Additionally, Community Health Director requires a master's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a top management. The Community Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Community Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Summary of Position
    Plymouth State University is searching for two Community Directors (CD) that actively engage with residents to advance the University’s mission and vision. The Community Director position is responsible for the overall daily operation of a Residential Community, which will consist of approximately 200-500 students in one of eight residential areas (including a traditional residence hall, apartment-style, and suite-style living). Community Directors supervise up to fourteen (14) Community Advisors (undergraduate and graduate student staff) and up to fifteen (15) Desk Attendants (undergraduate and graduate student staff) and possibly one(1) Lead Community Advisor(depending on the assigned community). This is a 12-month, fully-benefited, professional live-in position.

    • Knowledge of human relations and counseling practices.
    • Academic and/or student organization advising experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders and campus partners.
    • Participation in campus enrollment and retention initiatives.
    • Desire to utilize, create, and implement innovative practices in residential life.
    • Experience integrating residential and academic initiatives (Living-Learning Communities, Special Interest Housing, Residential Curriculum)
    • Experience in both the theory and application of student learning and development.
