  • Join our Commercial Lending Team! Frontier Credit Union is seeking an experienced Commercial Lender in Southeast Idaho. The ideal candidate will be organized, a team and consensus builder, and one that can build strong professional relationships.


    Position Overview:


    Builds and maintains relationships with existing borrowers and prospective borrowers. Prepares and presents loan presentations to loan committee for approval. Builds and maintains a solid network of resources and business relationships to continually grow the credit union’s commercial loan portfolio. May work in conjunction with other Commercial Loan Officers with larger and/or complex loans.


    Essential Functions:

    • Responsible for developing new relationships to expand commercial loans and member base.
    • Advises clients on suitable loan and credit options. Identifies and refers cross-sell opportunities
    • Obtains and assesses financial information, including financial statements and credit histories
    • Negotiates rates, loan terms, and payment options within policy and current practice
    • Participates in monitoring loan repayment activities and takes necessary action within contracted terms up to and including calling loan due, to protect credit union from loss
    • Performs due diligence on the lending process from application to closing documentation
    • Communicates between borrowers and underwriting departments and is extremely quick to respond and follow up with existing and prospective borrowers, staff, and 3rd parties.
    • Keeps abreast of amendments to loan policies, lending procedures, and regulations
    • Primarily responsible for the application data entry and acquisition, scanning and forwarding various documents to underwriting and/or processing.
    • Reviews documents such as but not limited to: appraisals, title policies, environmental reports, sales agreements, rent rolls, construction budgets, etc. for accuracy and to identify potential items that may need addressed.
    • Understands, applies, and complies with all Credit Union Policies and Procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations, and adheres to requirements set forth by the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required
    • At least two years of lending experience
    • Proficient with Microsoft excel, word, and outlook
    • Experience working with a loan operating system
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
    • Familiarity with financial factors pertaining to business industry which loans are provided to
    • Understanding of full spectrum products and services provided by credit union
    • Communicates with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in person and over the phone
    • Performs job functions independently with limited supervision; work effectively on own and as part of team
    • Ability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow verbal directions
    • Must remain composed in stressful, high-pressure situations. Calmly and professionally handle different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of member service
    • Demonstrates extreme accuracy and quality, effectively handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, and exercises highest level of discretion on both internal and external matters
    • Must be highly responsive and maintain good communication with members and coworkers


    Physical Requirements:

    Bend, sit, walk, or stand to perform work with moderate physical exertion; occasional lifting to 20 lbs. Bending and twisting to reach forms, pens, and miscellaneous items. Travels to business locations, moves through job sites that are in various states of building and condition, operates routine office equipment including computer terminals, keyboards, telephones, copiers, and calculators. Works on computer and telephone for up to 8 hours per day. This position may require ability to climb or descend stairs with minimal assistance.
