Clinical Ethicist offers guidance to patients, their families, and professional staff on ethical, legal and policy issues and concerns stemming from clinical interactions between health care professionals and patients. Provides guidance to the institutional ethics committee pertaining to policy formulation and educational and case review activities. Being a Clinical Ethicist develops institutional policies concerning ethical issues such as "do-not-resuscitate" and "withdrawal of life-support". Requires a master's degree or doctorate related to health ethics. Additionally, Clinical Ethicist typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Clinical Ethicist typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and reducing clinical risk in the inpatient setting.     Responsibilities:

    • Manage and reduce clinical risk in the inpatient setting.
    • Collaborate with health care providers to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
    • Investigate incidents and ensure timely reporting to regulatory agencies.
    • Conduct staff training and education on risk management topics.
    • Maintain knowledge of current regulations and standards related to risk management.

    Requirements:

    • Must be a clinician: RN, MD, NP, PA.
    • Must have an active NY license in their respective field.
    • Previous acute care risk management experience required.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
