Civil Engineer plans, designs, and supervises the construction and maintenance of building and infrastructure projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Analyzes the design effectiveness and structural reliability of major projects including assessing and testing materials. Being a Civil Engineer performs the necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Estimates costs including personnel and material needs, prepares proposals, and establishes completion dates. Additionally, Civil Engineer may also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. May participate in an engineering or professional development program. May be working towards obtaining a Professional Engineer License (PE). Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.     Role Summary: As a Civil Engineer specializing in bridge engineering and transportation, you'll play a vital role in project management, component design, quality control, and business development activities. You'll work closely with senior engineers and mentors to develop your skills and expertise in bridge design and transportation engineering.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Project Management: Perform professional engineering tasks, including project management, component design, and bid specification preparation, to fulfill project demands and client expectations.
    2. Design Expertise: Provide component design for complex projects and direct project designs for less complex projects, with a focus on bridge engineering and roadway design.
    3. Quality Control: Assist with quality reviews and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards in project deliverables.
    4. Permit Applications: Prepare permit applications according to code and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
    5. Cost Estimation: Prepare opinions of probable cost based on bid data, supporting project budgeting and scheduling efforts.
    6. Business Development: Identify and research potential projects using technology tools such as DelTek Vision, contributing to the company's marketing plan.
    7. Client Interaction: Create positive impressions during client interactions, maintaining adherence to company values and fostering strong client relationships.
    8. Proposal Preparation: Assist with proposal and presentation preparations according to client expectations, showcasing the firm's capabilities and expertise.
    9. Technical Assessment: Participate in assessing the technical qualifications of new recruits as required, contributing to the recruitment process.

    Skills:

    • Civil Engineering: Proficiency in civil engineering principles and practices, with a focus on bridge design, roadway design, and transportation engineering.
    • Project Management: Experience in project management methodologies, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Bridge Engineering: Strong knowledge of bridge design principles, structural engineering, and DOT standards.
    • Technical Tools: Familiarity with AASHTOWare, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and MS Office suite, with experience using DelTek Vision preferred.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
    • Experience: Civil EIT with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in bridge and structures design.
    • Licensure: Professional Engineer license preferred.
    • Project Management: Previous project management experience required, with a focus on bridge engineering and transportation projects.
