    The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) is seeking its first Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure the organization’s internal business operations are optimized in support of our critically important mission and new Strategic Plan.     About The Role

    As a member of our team in Huntsville, AL, you will provide supervision for all internal business operations and executive level support of cross-departmental initiatives for a thriving organization with tremendous growth and impact potential. Functions under your supervision will include Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing and Communications, and Facility Management. An ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication and leadership skills while also possessing a strong history of successful leadership and change management for business practices. This person must be an executor and implementation expert who thrives in working for a powerful mission and non-profit organization. Success for the position is represented by the NCAC operating at a highly efficient level so we are fully supporting our outward facing service providers and ensuring all staff feel the NCAC is a great place to work.

    A Typical Day May Include

    • Meeting with one of your direct reports to discuss current operations, review any emerging challenges, and support their professional growth and impact
    • Providing candid and trustworthy advice to the CEO in troubleshooting and problem solving for senior leadership decisions
    • Leading a problem-solving process to enhance interdepartmental collaborations
    • Serving as a thought partner with a colleague who is struggling to identify more efficient and effective business operations
    • Championing an idea that helps attract, engage, and retain a welcoming, diverse, and high-achieving workforce
    • Identifying an opportunity to optimize our internal business operations and develop a proposed plan for implementation
    • Providing leadership and boundary setting with other senior leaders so you and your staff can prioritize a project identified in the NCAC’s Strategic Plan such as marketing strategies, facility management plans, enhanced systems/procedures, or supervisor training
    • Assisting a direct report with prioritizing requested support from another department and communicating with other NCAC senior leaders about competing demands and negotiating mutually acceptable pathways to provide support

    Education And Experience Requirements We Are Looking For Include

    • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or similar advanced degree highly desired
    • Minimum of seven years’ experience in leading business operations in a fast-moving dynamic environment
    • Prefer three or more years’ experience as a COO or similar role requiring management of multiple administrative departments
    • Proven experience developing and operating diverse operations and processes
    • Prefer experience on the executive team of a medium size, mission-driven organization
    • Proven history of leadership development and impactful outcomes with specific experience implementing strategic plans

    Location and Hours

    This position will work on-site at our Huntsville, AL office and support both local and out-of-state employees.

    The NCAC revolutionized the United States’ response to child sexual and physical abuse and other forms of child maltreatment. Since its creation in 1985, the NCAC has served as a model for the 1,000 Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) now operating or developing in the United States and in more than 40 countries throughout the world. The NCAC's mission is To Champion and Strengthen the Global Response to Child Abuse.

    The NCAC provides extensive child abuse prevention and intervention services in Huntsville/Madison County and is one of the leading organizations in the country providing training and technical assistance for professionals working in the field of child abuse response. We offer a variety of inter- and multidisciplinary trainings and professional development programs. Trainings are offered in-person, and virtually and on-demand through the NCAC Virtual Training Center. NCAC also provides the Child Abuse Library OnlineTM (CALiOTM), which is one of the largest repositories of child maltreatment resources in the world.
