  • Position Title: Assistant or Associate Professor in Student Affairs Appointment Type: Faculty Job Description: Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The School of Education (SOE) in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a faculty position in student affairs at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with tenure. Specifically, we seek a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic colleague to join our student affairs and higher education programs. In addition to engaging in scholarly research and serving on master's and doctoral committees, we seek a colleague who will teach core courses in Student Affairs and Higher Education. Though we are open to various areas of research specialization and methodological approaches, we are particularly interested in scholars who have a line of inquiry and/or teaching experience focused on one or more of the following (listed alphabetically): (a) college student access and success, (b) college student learning and development; (c) organization, policy, and governance or (d) student affairs administration. Additionally, we are interested in scholars whose research focus and teaching interests cut across multiple student populations and institutional types in postsecondary education and who use advanced research methods. Required Minimum Qualifications: For rank of Assistant Professor, the successful candidate will possess an earned doctoral degree in higher education administration, student affairs, or a closely related field by the start date and experience working in a higher education setting. For rank of Associate Professor, the successful candidate must meet university standards for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure, including excellence in scholarship that establishes the individual as a significant contributor to the field or profession, evidence of effective teaching, and evidence of institutional service.
