Chief Nurse Anesthetist jobs in Connecticut

Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Provides exceptional patient care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures. Cultivates a patient centric environment which focuses on the whole individual inclusive of physical, psychosocial, spiritual and functional needs of the patient, family, and significant others. Serves as the focal professional for the continuity of care in patient care within scope of practice standards, as well as specialty specific standards to address and resolve problems that may arise.

    Responsibilities


    • Provide accurate, safe, and patient-centric anesthetic care in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
    • Conduct thorough anesthesia apparatus safety tests and document anesthesia records accordingly.
    • Ensure appropriate documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
    • Uphold high standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, and commitment to patient care.
    • Engage in projects to maintain and advance professional competency.


    Qualifications


    • Education: Completion of Certified Nurse Anesthetist Training Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist Council on accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.
    • Licensure: Current State of Connecticut Nursing License, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Connecticut, AANA Certification, State of CT RN and APRN License, ACLS.
    • Experience: Clinical working experience preferred but not required.
    • Special Skills: Sharp concentration, effective communication, calm demeanor, flexibility, and adaptability.

    • We have multiple positions available at both of our Yale New Haven Hospital campuses. Part-time (24 - 35 hours per week) up to full-time (36 or 40 hours per week) available. We are hiring for several positions.
