Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Acuity is currently seeking a Certified Nurse Anesthetist to provide support for on-site health units for rapid deployment to support emergency efforts. This is a temporary position and length of assignment may vary based on operational needs and client requirements.

    Location: Nationwide

    • This position is notional and contingent upon contract award****

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:

    • Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and document results.
    • Develops, recommends, and implements standard operating instructions and practices pertaining to the administration and management of anesthetics that ensure client safety, confidentiality and timely, ethical and quality service.
    • Select and prescribe post-anesthesia medications or treatments to patients.
    • Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients' cardiovascular systems.
    • Evaluate patients' post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur.
    • Monitors the effects of specific anesthesia, drugs, techniques, and patient reactions.
    • Select, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications, anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids or blood products as necessary.
    • Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care. Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contract requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
    • Current Appropriate Licensure and complies with any applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning CRNAs.
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed Nurse Anesthetist.
    • Have and maintain current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Hold a current Board of Certification.
    • Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
    • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
    • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Due to varied current global health climate, additional personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines may apply. Employees may potentially be working in an environment supporting the medical response to an emergency health crisis.
    • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
    • May require bending, stooping, and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
