    SUMMARY

    Oversee the information technology operations with a focus on enhanced internal efficiency while leading a team of IT professionals to ensure the reliable operations and security of Sunshine’s technology infrastructure as well as maintain, grow and innovate.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Uses strategic planning to establish and drive IT vision, ensuring alignment with Sunshine’s goals.
    • Develops IT policies and practices that foster innovation, security and efficiency.
    • Ensures the seamless and secure operations of all IT systems while championing efficiency and reliability.
    • Leads and manages a team of IT professionals, providing coaching and mentorship to ensure their development and success.
    • Engages, builds and partners with the executive team, board of directors and vendors to ensure alignment with current and long-term business objectives.
    • Plans, coordinates, directs and designs IT-related activities of the agency, as well as provides administrative direction and support of daily operational activities of the IT department. 
    • Manages the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and office automation equipment.
    • Develops configuration and performance standards for network and implements and monitors controls to ensure they are maintained.
    • Benchmarks, analyzes, reports on and makes recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
    • Develops IT budget and develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives.
    • Establishes and reviews regular written and in-person communications with Sunshine's Directors, and users regarding pertinent IT activities.
    • Maintains awareness of changing trends and regulations, which might affect the department and acts on as required.
    • Ensures that the IT Team utilizes technology to provide staff with a fast, accurate, and secure method to access information, in order that staff can be serviced in a highly efficient and effective manner. Ensures support is provided to internal staff in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of data related activities and tools to support reporting needs of the organization.
    • Oversees contract negotiations with IT vendors, contractors and service providers
    • Approves purchases of technological equipment and software.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Directly supervises 5-8 employees in the Information Technology Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent business degree. Master’s Degree preferred; and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems. 


    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 


    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    Must possess strong leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Must have a strong understanding of project management principles. Must possess skills necessary to efficiently plan and implement activities within policies and procedures; maintain positive working relationships; respect the rights of others; demonstrate initiative and accept accountability; effectively manage time and communicate and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Should be accessible for meetings before and after normal work hours as necessary.
