    The Position

    • As the visionary leader, the Chief Nursing Officer holds the key responsibility for shaping and upholding the highest standards of clinical nursing practice across all facets of the nursing landscape throughout Community Health Center. 
    • Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this leader will be responsible for collaborating with Community Health Centers’ Executive Team and other department leaders in the development of organizational strategic plans, quality improvement strategy, and sustainability plans. 
    • This leader will spearhead recruitment strategies as a vital pipeline for nurse acquisition, focusing on optimizing staffing levels to reduce reliance on agency resources, along with identifying opportunities to enhance throughput efficiency.
    • Seeking a mission-focused individual who will bring strong operations experience and will strive to innovate implemented processes to ensure that both the nursing practices and overall organizational performance is effectively optimized. 
    • Ideal candidates will be experienced leaders in acute staffing, patient flow, and efficiency management, ensuring high-quality standards while running an efficient clinical operation. 
    • This leader must excel in fostering relatable leadership and maintaining strong engagement with the staff, and will seek ways to continue improvement in collaboration, communication, and employee engagement. 

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred. 
    • Active RN license is required. 
    • A minimum of five years of professional nursing experience within an acute care and/or medical practice setting is required. 
    • A minimum of five years of nursing leadership experience is required. 

    The Organization

    • Community Health Centers (CHC) was founded in 1971 as the Peoples Free Clinic and provided a “new kind of healthcare” to its community. While the organization has grown, it’s mission remains that same as CHC strives to prioritize the needs of their community first. 
    • CHC was awarded the federal status of Healthcare for the Homeless Program in 1989 and remains the only organization in the state of Vermont with this designation. CHCB ensures free access to healthcare for all individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness and was designated Vermont’s second Federally Qualified Health Center. 
    • CHC has since opened the Pearl Street Youth Health Center in 2004 that is Vermont’s only designated site for homeless and at-risk youth. CHC is also home to the Safe Harbor Health Center, a two-room exam facility offering preventative care, dental care, and counseling services. Additionally, CHC’s Housing First Program also offers a supportive housing program for both homeless and chronic medical condition patients to ensure they have adequate resources. 
    • With a high focus on community-centered care, CHC values equity, excellence, teamwork, engagement, accountability, and collaboration to ensure that both staff and patient needs are consistently met.
