Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge is looking for Certified Medical Technicians. Candidates will perform services to care for the residents, participate in their care for illness, rehabilitation, and in disease prevention under the direction of the professional nurse. Performs functions in maintaining healthful environment for the residents; performs factual observations and reporting. Executes prescribed nursing procedures; and executes the legal orders of physicians, dentists, and RN’s.

Additional Job requirements:
· Delivers routine daily medications, both prescription and non-prescription, to residents.
· Coordinates with the licensed nurses to assist with patient care and medications.
· Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
· Record medication dosages and times.
· Observe patients and document changes in their condition.
· Oversees the care provided by the nurse aids on assigned shift.
The incumbent must have completed a (DHS ) Department- Approved medication administration course that includes the passing of the Department's performance based competency test within the past 2 years.
