Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager.     Under the general guidance & direction of the pharmacist & as permitted by the respective state board of pharmacy, the role of the Medication History Specialist is to conduct patient, family, or caregiver interviews to obtain a list of medications a patient was taking prior to admission.

    Hours: Full-time, 1.0 FTE, Variable Shift 40 Hours Per Week.

    Required Qualifications:

    • H.S. Diploma or GED
    • Upon hire: Alaska Pharmacy Technician License
    • 1 year of Retail pharmacy experience or medication history technician experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Coursework/Training and Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician Program
    • PTCB (may be required where applicable by state)
    • Preferred: PTCB certificate in Medication History
    • 1 year of inpatient hospital experience
    • 1 year of experience with pharmacy information systems (i.e., Epic, ADM applications)
