Ceramics Engineer develops manufacturing processes and equipment for converting ceramics into useful products. Tests various combinations of materials to create ceramics that that are durable and economical. Being a Ceramics Engineer researches and selects the appropriate hand and power tools to be used in the production process. Tests finished ceramics to ensure quality, consistency, and durability standards have been met according to specifications. Additionally, Ceramics Engineer requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Ceramics Engineer typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     What is job responsible to deliver ?

    • Performs a variety of product fabrication duties including cutting, generating, grinding, edging, cleaning and inspecting of a variety of optical blanks, following established methods and procedures to meet customer order requirements

    What are key (primary) duties ?

    • Develop, lead and run programs of CNC machining from work orders, simple blueprints, drawings, sketches, and written or verbal instructions to fabricate products to customer specifications
    • Responsible in reviewing and inspection of final machining and sizing of components as required supporting production programs and rework to include documentations.
    • Maintains specifications by observing in process inspection methods, adjusting and reprogramming controls', sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
    • Ensures quality of the finished product by continually reinforcing a strong and open working relationship between the quality and production departments.
    • Must be able to operate various measuring and testing devices, such as calipers, micrometers, comparator and sag gauges, to achieve desired material specifications and quality.
    • Maintains clean and safe work area and work tools and equipment.

    What level of education is required ?

    • High School or equivalent

    What skills/competencies are required ?

    • Two to four years in industrial environment
    • Good mathematical skills
    • Work off shifts as required; including weekends
    • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document for upon hire.
