Position Summary. The Advanced Cash Flow Analyst is instrumental in managing and forecasting Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s net and consolidated cash flow statement. This includes monthly actuals analysis, monthly forecast updates, preparation for the annual business plan, and additional scenario modeling. The analyst serves as a subject matter expert for the Refining & Marketing (R&M) cash flow statement, offering insights and compelling operational stories related to changes in cash flow. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and refinement of complex financial models to forecast and analyze MPC’s cash flow statement, ensuring high accuracy and predictive value. Monitor, track, and predict changes in working capital, and prepare ad hoc models to demonstrate sensitivity to these changes. Present R&M Cash Flow statements and financial forecasts to senior leadership, including the CFO, and assist with preparation for board presentations. Collaborate with Tax, Accounting, and Treasury departments to align financial strategies and ensure compliance with GAAP. Acts as a lead to the junior cash flow analyst, providing training and direction, fostering an environment of learning and development within the team. Initiate and drive improvements in processes and systems, leveraging automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Act as a lead on smaller projects or initiatives, ensuring successful outcomes through effective coordination and oversight. Prepare ad-hoc reports and conduct complex financial analyses to support strategic decisions. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree is required. Majors in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred. 8-10 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, with specialized knowledge in cash flow management and financial modeling is required. Skills High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with SAP, RightAngle, Power BI and/or Tableau preferred. Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate financial insights effectively. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills Proven ability to multitask in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and compelling manner. Leadership and project management abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in financial practices. Experience in leading cross-functional teams and projects.
