Capacity Planning Supervisor leads a capacity planning team to plan and monitor an organization's operating limits and capacities. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to align with production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planning Supervisor identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to understand future plans and develop responsive capacity forecasting. Additionally, Capacity Planning Supervisor utilizes production metrics and manufacturing research to develop insights on processes or equipment and recommend improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Capacity Planning Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Capacity Planning Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
    1.1. To direct and supervise the daily activities of all steel plant production direct labor personnel by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures; and to ensure scheduled production and all Safety and Quality standards are met.
    1.2. Provides training to employees as need.

    2. KEY AREAS OF ACTIVITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
    2.1. Ability to read and interpret production reports
    2.2. Reviews production schedules and work orders and assigns duties to workers according to order priorities.
    2.3. Responsible for shift schedule of temporary and full-time employees, including workstation assignments/ rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, backup for absent employees and shift rotations.
    2.4. Holds shift start changeover meetings with employees for improved communication.
    2.5. Attends meetings as needed. Schedules and conducts shift meetings as needed and communicates regularly with other Shift supervisors, the Plant Manager, Maintenance and Quality Departments.
    2.6. Attend training for self-development, improvement, and skill strengthening as required or needed.
    2.7. To conduct employee performance reviews and promote continuous improvement
    2.8. Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperating within and between departments.
    2.9. Initiates and verifies that 5s improvements are being implemented and maintained.
    2.10. Confers with management and other supervisors to resolve production issues.
    2.11. Ensures safety requirements are met by enforcing the use of personal protective equipment and requiring team members to keep work areas clean and organized according to Lean Manufacturing. Reports near misses, injuries and required first aid to Safety specialist.
    2.12. Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.

    4. SKILLS NEEDED
    4.1. Minimum of one (3) years of experience in manufacturing processes, procedures and machinery.
    4.2. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
    4.3. High school diploma or GED.
    4.4. Motivated, detail oriented, and self-directed and must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily without reasonable accommodation/supervision.
    4.5. Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills essential.
    4.6. Basic computer skills including familiarity with MS Office and Windows.
    4.7. Ability to work with employees in a team environment.
    4.8. Ability to communicate and comprehend the English language, both verbally and written.
    4.9. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods of time.
    4.10. Ability to train all levels of the organization, across all shifts of operation.
    4.11. Keep abreast of the latest trends/developments in Quality, Safety, and Environmental practices through regular formal training provided by the company.

    5. MEASUREMENT Primary measures of successful performance will be:
    5.1. Achieve production goals of shift in a timely and accurate manner.
    5.2. Quality goals, on time delivery, and safety goals as set by company policies and management team
    5.3. Receive zero notices of violation or administrative consent orders regarding environmental, legal, and regulatory requirements.
