    The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care consistent with
    the facility’s goals and objectives. Duties include staffing, training and development, revision of nursing policies and procedures, standards of
    performance, and communication regarding nursing issues to medical staff, department director’s and administration.


    Qualifications
    Education: Must possess a postgraduate degree in nursing or a related field; or the knowledge and skills associated with an advanced degree; or a
    written plan to obtain these qualifications. A related field may include healthcare administration or business administration.
    Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis,
    psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with
    external review organizations or comparable entities. Prior leadership experience strongly preferred.
    License: Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing in Arizona.
    Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days. May be required to work flexible hours.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
    Enhances hospital visibility by involvement in community regarding mental health and substance abuse community needs.
    Supervises nursing management team.
    Functions as a liaison between physicians, patients, referral sources, and employees.
    Ensures that the inpatient programs are staffed with the appropriate resources to ensure high quality of nursing care delivery.
    Prepares monthly reports for PI, and attends monthly PI and safety meetings.
    Oversees all patient satisfaction data and reports the data monthly to PI committee.
    Provides services to current referral sources to assure their satisfaction and continued associations.
    Oversees the Infection Control Plan, understand the Infection Control Monitors and the JC Standards associated with Infection Control.
    Meets hospitals staffing and budget benchmarks.
    Ensures the implementation of an ongoing system of program orientation for patients, families, and professionals and others.
    Assures adequate supervision and evaluation processes for all staff members and delegate these responsibilities as appropriate.
    Assists with orientation for new employees.
    Routinely reviews job assignments and utilization of staff.
    Analyzes statistical data on inpatient programs to determine and respond to trends.
    Collaborates with nursing staff on maintaining a high level of service and quality medical care
    Acts as a role model for excellent customer service and holds all nursing staff to this standard.
    PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS
    1. Ability to sit and stand (at least two-thirds of the shift) and walk (possibly one-third of the shift).
    2. Ability to reach above, or below waist height, kneel, bend, stoop, turn, and twist (occasionally to frequently).
    3. Visual ability to read charts, treatment plans, financial documents, computer screen and typewritten materials.
    4. Ability to frequently push/pull wheeled carts to 100 pounds.
    5. Ability to frequently lift and carry 10 lbs.; occasionally 20 to 50 lbs.
    6. Ability to work in an environment where chemicals are frequently used for cleaning, where medical and electrical hazards
    may be present and where dust, mist and steam are frequently generated in housekeeping tasks.
    7. Ability to work at a rapid pace and perform a variety of repetitive duties.
