    Someone who is passionate about the well-being of individuals and about making a positive impact on the community! The Community Wellness Director:

    • Is responsible for coordinating efforts to improve health and wellness in the Community of Derby/USD 260.
    • Will manage, lead, and support the Derby Health Collaborative (DHC) and the Community Wellness Hub.
    • Will work with local government entities, nonprofits, and private business to coordinate community health and wellness efforts for the community.
    • Will develop a cohesive health wellness strategy for the entire community.
    • Will develop and implement DRC wellness programs.
    • Is responsible for the internal staff DRC Wellness program.

    What Winning As a Community Wellness Director Looks Like

    • Manage the DHC, a group of organizations in Derby and USD 260 that have come together to fulfill a common mission - to improve the health and well-being of the citizens residing in the USD 260 community.
    • Improve community wellness through education; providing healthy opportunities and motivation; and reinforcing healthy choices and activities.
    • Schedule quarterly DHC meetings, work closely with DHC members, and manage collaborative initiatives.
    • Manage and lead the work of the Community Wellness Hub in the Oaklawn community.
    • Lead and supervise Grant Coordinators and wellness instructors.
    • Organize a working group of local government wellness staff to share resources and cooperative wellness efforts.
    • Create and implement community wellness programs.
    • Develop measures by which to judge community wellness effectiveness; present those periodically for review by the DRC and the DHC.
    • Report on the short term and long term effectiveness of the collaborative.
    • Gather and interpret health related data for the community.
    • Develop and present material to local business and organizations, based on national best practices, to assist in developing internal wellness programs - provide ongoing support and consultation as organizations progress with their programs.
    • Work with health care providers and other vendors to identify efficiencies and opportunities for improvement of service.
    • Staff and Chair the DRC Employee Wellness Committee.
      • Serve as the primary person in charge of developing the DRC internal staff wellness program.
      • Lead in setting measurable goals for the employee wellness program.
      • Track and coordinate program incentives.
    • Remain up-to-date with industry regulations and communicate any impact on existing and future policy options.
    • Research, write, apply for, and manage wellness grant opportunities.
    • Carry out all other duties assigned by the Director of Programs.
    Essential Job Requirements

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, exercise physiology, or related degree preferred. Can be substituted for an alternate degree with significant public health related experience.

    EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of experience coordinating health and wellness programs.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Functions may be performed in an environment that may cause exposure to sun. Need to have the ability to see and hear, sit, stoop, bend and move about. Must posses an audible voice for communication and ability to lift light equipment.

    Qualifications

    • Highly organized self-starter with excellent computer and customer service skills.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience managing projects, including developing timelines and facilitating meetings.
    • Experience in strategic planning, including defining goals and objectives.
    • Thorough knowledge of office software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Canva, and other software relevant to developing plans and managing projects.
    • Grant writing experience preferred.
    • Must be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
