Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings for steel fabrication projects and ensuring adherence to industry standards and project specifications.

Responsibilities:

Technical Drawing Creation

• Utilize advanced CAD software to produce precise technical drawings and detailed schematics for steel fabrication projects within the deep-water oil and gas industry
• Develop comprehensive assembly drawings for various components including machines, mechanical equipment, equipment guards, structural elements, piping systems, and ductwork
• Ensure all drawings adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications, incorporating tolerances, dimensions, and materials accurately
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to interpret project requirements and translate them into clear, detailed technical drawings
• Conduct regular reviews and revisions of drawings to reflect any changes in design or project scope, ensuring the most up-to-date information is available for fabrication and construction teams

Document Review:

• Read, review, and understand hand drawings, specifications, details, project plans, etc.

Measurement and Calculation:

• Use measuring tools and a calculator to accurately determine material requirements
• Calculate materials for purchase based on project needs

Traveler Knowledge:

• Demonstrate working knowledge of traveler documents including material takeoffs and bills of materials

Estimation and Cost Analysis

• Identify key variables to prepare and provide accurate, material takeoffs, quotes, estimates, and Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for structural and miscellaneous steel projects.
• Thoroughly document the basis for all estimates.

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a CAD Drafter/Designer on steel fabrication projects
• Ability to read and comprehend fabrication codes, specifications, and drawings
• Proficiency in using CAD software like AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks to create technical drawings for metal fabrication from marked-up plans or verbal instructions
• Strong understanding of measurement tools and techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations
• Ability to work in a diverse workforce
• Capability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
• Ability to pass a pre-employment screening

Preferred Skills:

• Working knowledge Bluebeam

Physical Requirements

• Must pass pre-employment screening
• Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk regularly throughout an 8-10 hour workday
• Willingness to work in year-round temperatures and moderate weather conditions
• Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment for the position
