    The primary role of the Business Development Officer (BDO) is to expand the commercial loan portfolio and deepen member relationships through account reviews, targeted campaigns, outbound calling efforts, and site visits. BDO will examine, evaluate, and recommend a course of action regarding prospective business member loan applications. Requires the ability to deliver a consultative conversation with business members and prospects that includes credit needs, deposit solutions, and industry specific insights. BDOs work with mid and senior level management, marketing and technical staff to achieve high levels of member satisfaction, growth in business product usage, deposit balances and loan balances. He/she will collaborate with others responsible for developing business for Isabella Community Credit Union(ICCU). This position requires a thorough knowledge of the market, ICCU products & services, and ICCU's competitors.

    Responsibilities: Implements a program that includes contacting existing business members to maintain and expand banking relationships and contacting prospective business members to develop new business. Responsible for market analysis to develop a business development plan, making recommendations to management when required. Identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sell services to business members through in-person sales sessions as well as by telephone, written correspondence, and external sales calls. Maintains high product knowledge by learning new selling techniques, new products and market trends. Assists in the development of promotional strategies to meet business development goals; collaborates with marketing to develop promotional materials as needed. Conducts training sessions for all employees to enhance their awareness of the business development plan and services available to existing and potential business members. Represents the Credit Union at various functions to develop business relationships.

    Requirements

    Experience: Five to ten years of similar or related experience.

    Education: (1) A master's degree, or (2) a bachelor's degree plus professional certification (e.g., CPA).

    Interpersonal Skills: Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas

    or services to others. The role requires a significant level of trust or diplomacy.

    Other Skills: Must maintain a high level of professionalism and have the ability to utilize digital tools to maintain an updated prospect list and manage existing business member relationships. System utilized should foster scheduled outreach and member contact touchpoints

    throughout the relationship. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
