    Job Description

    The Retail Branch Manager and Business Development Officer is responsible for recognizing and anticipating the needs of the branch to meet budget goals and ensures that established policies and procedures are followed.  He or she actively coaches,  leads and motivates employees, directing them to effectively identify the financial needs of our customers. The Retail Branch Manager and Business Development Officer is responsible for business development, establishing new and existing clients for D.L. Evans Bank. He or she builds and deploys a marketing plan designed to attract and acquire new customers.  The Retail Branch Manager and Business Development Officer promotes the Bank’s products and services, including but not limited to business accounts, business banking, cash management, remote deposit capture (RDC), consumer loans, deposit accounts and merchant services to potential and current customers. He or she collaborates with branch personnel in order to provide the best possible solutions for customer needs. The Retail Branch Manager and Business Development Officer develops a strong understanding of client objectives and assesses their business strategies and needs in relation to their objectives.  He or she engages in frequent local travel in respective market area. The Retail Branch Manager and Business Development Officer represent D.L. Evans Bank at community events, industry seminars and trade conventions as required. 

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
    • At least two years of experience in banking as a retail operations supervisor or manager required
    • Understanding of Bank policies and procedures, regulations, and documents relating to retail operations as well as consumer lending documentation, collection programs, and determination of credit worthiness are required
    • Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such
    • Proven track record of community/civic/trade organization involvement and business development
    • Strong interviewing skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Able to use financial calculators and related computer applications and business machines


    Responsibilities

    • Communicates and reiterates D.L. Evans Bank vision and values with branch team members
    • Responsible for proper staffing levels in the branch.  Duties include recruiting/identifying talent, interviewing and selecting the branch team
    • Creates an engaging environment for customers and employees
    • Provides leadership through effective objective setting, coaching, mentoring and communication
    • Directly supervises branch retail sales and operations personnel.  Ensures that high quality work and efficiency in operations are maintained.  Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with established bank policies and with legal and regulatory requirements
    • Conducts regular meetings with personnel to inform and train.  Discusses areas needing improvement and changes in procedure
    • Ensures that personnel are well-trained in all phases of their respective jobs.  Assures that assigned monthly product knowledge and security training is conducted
    • Determines work methods and flow through assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks Ensures that personnel are effective and optimally used.  Determines appropriate staffing levels for proper utilization of human resources
    • Tracks individual progress and conducts performance appraisals on each employee at least annually.  Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. Recommends promotions for employees as appropriate
    • Approves all sick leave, vacation, overtime, and time cards for each branch employee.  Keeps accurate payroll records
    • Provide guidance and direction for branch staff positions to ensure compliance with regulatory, security and internal controls, which includes timely completion of all branch operations tasks
    • Assumes responsibility for the planning, development, and implementation of effective marketing and sales strategies throughout the assigned market area designed to promote growth and profitability
    • Engages in individual and joint business calls and development activities.  Responsible for the solicitation and establishment of new customers for the Bank. Works with branch staff as well as loan officers, personal bankers, and branch managers in assigned market areas to expand the customer base
    • Meets with customers and prospects to discuss appropriate bank services and determine both existing customers and prospects' banking needs
    • Provides tailored proposals based on customer needs and current financial structure using in-depth knowledge of bank products
    • Enters customer call data for both prospective and existing customers onto the computer, using the 360 View software in order to track progress
    • Builds and deploys marketing plans to drive fee income and deposit revenue for the branch and the bank. Develops a formal marketing plan on an annual basis.  Researches and develops potential customer lists.  Tracks and reports progress of marketing activities at least quarterly
    • Responsible for meeting assigned goals including, but not limited to; sales volume and/or profitability goals and standards for activity, number of sales calls, number of new client relationships established, etc.  Ensures that branch goals for cross-sells, referrals etc. are met or exceeded
    • Ensures that other team members are informed of customer needs and of the solutions available to meet those needs
    • Develops internal and external referral sources through participation in bank events, community activities, and participation in seminars and professional groups (CPA’s, attorneys)
    • Serves as a mentor and provides sales coaching to employees as needed
    • Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional completion of consumer and small business loan functions
    • Seeks new loan opportunities, interviews, takes applications, and processes documentation for consumer loan requests
    • Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from customers
    • Enters information into the internal consumer and small business lending approval system.  Calculates terms and finance charges, computes debt ratios and verifies employment and income.  Assures sufficient collateral values
    • Communicates loan decisions to customers
    • Completes consumer and small business lending functions in accordance with established bank policies and legal requirements
    • Assumes responsibility for the planning, development, and implementation of effective marketing and sales strategies related to business online banking, cash management, RDC and merchant services in assigned market area
    • Works with loan officers, personal bankers and branch managers to expand cash management RDC and merchant service offerings
    • Assists in cash management, RDC and merchant services review with customers and presentation of business online banking, cash management and merchant services components
    • Manages risk/return and drives quality for new and existing clients.  Actively identifies and mitigates different types of risk such as regulatory, reputation, operational, and credit risks
    • Assists new customers with setup and delivery of new equipment and initial product training.
    • Follows all appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that all cash management, RDC and merchant service product offerings are compliant with all state and federal regulations
    • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with customers
    • Ensures that customers' requests and questions are promptly resolved. Handles customer complaints
    • Ensures that customers are informed of bank services and policies. Consults customers regarding their financial needs and services requested
    • Ensures that the Bank's quality reputation is maintained and projected
    • Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of branch functions
    • Managers and oversees branch expenses and pursues cost-saving measures
    • Responsible for the total branch performance/profitability including, but not limited to, budgeting and income generation.  Continually seeks ways to improve branch operations and productivity and meet established goals
    • Institutes prudent safety measures. Ensures that proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the building, grounds, work areas, desks, and equipment is carried out, including snow and ice removal. Ensures that the building is opened and closed in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment quarterly
    • Ensure satisfactory (or better) branch audits
    • Keeps management informed of branch activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems.  Requests assistance when necessary. Review daily, monthly, quarterly and annual branch reports as needed or required
    • Implements changes to established policies and procedures within the branch
    • Maintains the professional reputation of D.L. Evans Bank
    • Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times
    • Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
    • Keeps work area clean, secure, and well-maintained
    • Completes special projects as assigned
    • Attends meetings as required
