    The Business Banking Officer is responsible for business development and establishing new and existing clients for D.L. Evans Bank.  He or she builds and deploys a marketing plan designed to attract and acquire new customers.  The Business Banking Officer promotes the bank’s business services products including, but not limited to, business accounts, business banking, cash management, remote deposit capture (RDC), and merchant services to potential and current customers. He or she collaborates with branch personnel in order to provide the best possible solutions for customer needs. The Business Banking Officer develops a strong understanding of client objectives and assesses their business strategies and needs in relation to their objectives.  He or she engages in frequent local travel in respective market area. The Business Banking Officer represents D.L. Evans Bank at community events, industry seminars and trade conventions as required.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in marketing or business preferred
    • Three to five years of experience in banking and business development
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of banking practices, principles, operations, policies, and procedures
    • Able to get along well with coworkers
    • Able to use the Internet and e-mail and demonstrate an understanding of Microsoft Office products


    Responsibilities

    • Engages in individual and joint business calls and development activities.  Responsible for soliciting and establishing new customers for the bank.  Works with loan officers, personal bankers, and branch managers to extend customer base
    • Meets with customers and prospects to discuss appropriate bank services and determine both existing customers and prospects' banking needs
    • Provides tailored proposals based on customer needs and current financial structure using in-depth knowledge of bank products
    • Enters customer call data for both prospective and existing customers onto the computer, using the 360 View software in order to track progress
    • Build and deploy a marketing plan to drive fee income and deposit revenue for the bank through proactive promotion of cash management services.  Meets or exceeds established goals for sales, referrals and/or profitability standards
    • Develops a formal marketing plan on an annual basis. Researches and develops potential customer lists.  Tracks and reports progress of marketing activities at least quarterly
    • Responsible for meeting sales volume and/or profitability goals and standards for activity, such as number of sales calls, number of new client relationships established, etc.
    • Ensures that other team members are informed of customer needs and of the solutions available to meet those needs
    • Develops internal and external referral sources through participation in bank events, community activities, and participation in seminars and professional groups (CPA’s, attorneys)
    • Operates computer terminal or personal computer to determine balances, process account activity and resolve problems
    • Assumes responsibility for the planning, development, and implementation of effective marketing and sales strategies related to business online banking, cash management, RDC and merchant services in assigned market area
    • Works with loan officers, personal bankers and branch managers to expand cash management RDC and merchant service offerings
    • Assists in cash management, RDC and merchant services review with customers and presentation of business online banking, cash management and merchant services components
    • Manages risk/return and drives quality for new and existing clients.  Actively identifies and mitigates different types of risk such as regulatory, reputation, operational, and credit risks
    • Assists new customers with setup and delivery of new equipment and initial product training
    • Follows all appropriate policies and procedures to ensure that all cash management, RDC and merchant service product offerings are compliant with all state and federal regulations
    • Periodically conducts a review of cash management, RDC and merchant service product offerings to ensure customer satisfaction.  Conducts market research for related products offered by other financial institutions to ensure such products and services remain competitive. Communicates recommendations for changes to the products with Vice President Business Banking Manager
    • Provides backup coverage for business banking officers in other market areas
    • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with clients
    • Develops a strong understanding of client objectives and assesses their business strategies and needs in relation to their objectives
    • Ensures effective ongoing communication with clients to maintain high levels of customer retention
    • Seeks to resolve customer concerns promptly and effectively
    • Maintains the professional reputation of D.L. Evans Bank
    • Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times
    • Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
