Ensures compliance with university, state, and federal regulations and standard accounting procedures. Additionally, Bursar requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top executive officer. The Bursar typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Bursar typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • Job Summary: Responsible for providing customer service to students, faculty and staff, in person and remotely, including assisting students with direct troubleshooting and problem resolutions related to payments, student accounts and on-line services. Responsible for ensuring the proper collection and recording of all monies due the college. Assists with reconciling, verifying, reporting and collecting from customers. Full knowledge of student accounts in order to assist parents and students to understand the billing process. Responsible for securing student/vendor confidential information in line with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard procedures per college procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Associate's degree and 2 years' experience, or a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

    Licensing Requirements: Valid driver's license.

    Hiring Range: $38,070 - $47,588

    Job Specific Task List:

    • 60% - Work with various departments to ensure that all payments are posted according to college policy; allocate and audit monies received to proper accounts, balance receipts, reconcile accounts, prepare and make bank deposits, verifying against computer reports; assist customers with making payments on their accounts and independently interpret student accounts; responsible for the accurate and timely credit card refunding for all college customers. - (Essential)
    • 5% - Maintain confidentiality of college and student records. Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision; train at regular intervals on Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, consumer protection and privacy laws. - (Essential)
    • 10% - Work closely with AR staff in maintaining student records; problem solving and troubleshooting of student account inquiries and issues, which can involve collaborating with other college departments. - (Essential)
    • 5% - Initial point of contact for return to lender process related to Title IV compliance regulations; follow up with the Financial Aid and Finance departments to ensure timely returns to the Federal Government. - (Essential)

    • 5% - Post monthly collection payments from all the collection agencies.
