Part Time Broadcast Video Services Technician

  • Job Description

    The Broadcast/Video Services Technician provides technical expertise in the installation and support of campus technology systems. These systems include classrooms, conference rooms, special purpose spaces, offices, temporary event setups, IP security cameras, emergency public address and digital signage. Support of systems can include live event production services, including audio level management, audiovisual switching, camera operation, managing a stream, and other functions as needed for the particular event.

    The technicians’ essential functions include: Supporting audiovisual classroom and campus technology. Reading system drawings and documentation to troubleshoot incidents. Communicating with customers, discussing solution options, and confirming satisfactory resolutions. Collaborating with and supporting other Campus Technologies staff members. Researching and evaluating emerging audiovisual technologies and identifying use cases for campus implementation. Installing hardware and cabling in campus spaces. Programming control systems and building graphical user interfaces for touch panel control devices. Performing regular checks, repairs, and preventative maintenance of audiovisual and CCTV hardware and systems.

    The technician may perform other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

    Qualifications

    Physical Requirements: Visual and aural acuity. Manual dexterity and strength sufficient to install, operate, repair and transport audiovisual equipment. Occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs., ability to pull / push up to 25 lbs. Climb and work on ladders or lifts.

    Preferred Qualifications: Strong organizational skills. Understand digital video and audio systems. Understand IP CCTV hardware and storage. Programming of Audiovisual and/or CCTV manufactures technology. Strong technical troubleshooting experience. Computer and network knowledge as it applies to audiovisual and IP security systems. Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video and control. Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and to learn new applications and systems. Work and think independently to meet deadlines. Ability to work some evenings and weekends as necessary.

    High school graduation required; Associate degree or comparable experience in electronics, technology or related field preferred. Experience in higher education preferred.

    AVIXA (Infocomm) CTS certification, CCTV Certifications, and certifications with audiovisual system manufacturers are preferred.
