Breast Center Manager manages the day-to-day operations of one or more mammography clinics. Responsibilities may include staffing, training, scheduling, budgeting, and marketing for the clinic(s). Being a Breast Center Manager may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a director. The Breast Center Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Market Street, Iowa City, IA) Breast Imaging Center is looking to hire for one position at either the Sonographer, Pay Grade 5, or Sr. Sonographer, Pay Grade 7, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown (located at 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, IA) is a 194-bed hospital that became part of Iowa’s only comprehensive academic health system on Jan. 31, 2024.
Perform complex radiographic and mammography procedures at an advanced level that requires independent judgment and initiative in order to obtain information for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating patient illness; participate in teaching, evaluating, and advising fellows, residents, and medical students.
Schedule: Days, 9:30am-6pm, rotating Saturdays
Duties to include:
Sonographer:
Senior Sonographer:
· Obtains and documents a comprehensive medical, psychosocial, and developmental health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment, and plan of care.
· In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute, and complex care of patients and manages patient's overall care, initiates appropriate referrals and consultations, and identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
· Orders, performs, interprets, and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
· Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions.
· Prescribes therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical/procedural, needed to achieve expected outcomes.
· Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
· Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within specialty scope of practice.
· Facilitates the patient’s transition between and within health care settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.

Sonographer:
Required Qualifications:
· Completion of a two-year or more accredited health science program (i.e. Radiologic Technology, Medical Technology, Nursing, etc.) plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Sonography or
o CAAHEP accredited or equivalent program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
o Completion of a bachelor’s degree plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Sonography
· Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Advanced Certification in Mammography within nine (9) months following the start of employment in the specialty area of mammography.
· Willingness to travel to outreach clinics throughout the state of Iowa.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
Highly Desired Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or science related field.
Senior Sonographer:
Required Qualifications:
· A Bachelor's degree in Radiation Sciences or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
o CAAHEP accredited or equivalent program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography or Vascular Technology, or
o Completion of a bachelor’s degree plus completion of a twelve-month formal education program in Sonography
· Extensive (3-5 years) progressively responsible experience in diagnostic medical sonography
· Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or other nationally recognized accreditation organizations for primary specialty.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Experience providing clinical education to students and sonographers and residents.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Sciences is highly desirable.
· Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Advanced Certification in Mammography
