Evaluates functions and activities in assigned areas to determine the nature of operations and the adequacy of systems to achieve established objectives. Additionally, Branch Review Specialist recommends corrective actions and improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Branch Review Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Job Description

    The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

    This position serves as a first line manager of IT resources and activities to ensure that the objectives and goals of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) are accomplished. The Information Technology Manager 14 position is the first line manager of professional employees in the Customer Success Section. This section within Agency Services supporting MGCB will manage and oversee first contact support from MGCB staff for technology needs. This position directs, leads, and mentors the team to meet customer expectations for the completion of project and maintenance effort within time and budget requirements. This position is responsible for coordinating the activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees. The work area primary responsibilities including the following: distribution and installation of computers and peripherals and resolve issues related to these devices. Assist with the management and installation of approved software. Research and assist with the purchase of new technology solutions. Perform daily maintenance of systems and hardware associated to MGCB critical systems (Responsible Gaming Database, Public Board Hearing Equipment).

    ITM 14:

    This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $3,500. Up to $1,750 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education
    Possession of a bachelor's degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

    Experience
    Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator 12.

    Alternate Education and Experience

    Three years of experience as a computer programming supervisor or Information Technology
    Supervisor may be substituted for the education and experience.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
