Biostatistician conducts statistical studies to generate data and insights used to innovate, plan and support improved healthcare outcomes and processes. Prepares analysis plans to ensure the best statistical methods are developed and utilized. Being a Biostatistician writes specifications for files, consistency checks, tables, and calculations used to collect and analyzes data from a variety of sources. Interprets analyses and prepares exhibits for reports and presentations. Additionally, Biostatistician interfaces with non technical users to assist with data interpretation and understanding of results. Proficient with statistical computer applications like SAS and R. Typically requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Biostatistician occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM) biostatistician will provide a wide range of statistical expertise and guidance to faculty, staff, and students engaged in research. The candidate will aid in the design, development, and dissemination of research studies in a variety of research projects, including but limited to those within medical research, clinical research, biomedical research, population health research, and medical education research. The candidate should be adept at the analysis and interpretation of data, setting priorities, and time management. This position will report directly to the Associate Dean of Research, responsible for 4 hours/week.

    Responsibilities

    • Works with investigators on experimental design and statistical research approaches in the design of research projects and research surveys.
    • Determines appropriate statistical methods based on data sets or project outcomes.
    • Analyzes biomedical, clinical, population health, and survey research data using best practices and appropriate statistical methods.
    • Employs statistical software and methods to interpret research data and advises investigators on conclusions, inferences, and data set representation (graphs, plots, charts, etc) for publication.

    Bachelor's degree in statistics or related field

    Three (3) years experience providing statistical support for research program(s)

    Adept at using statistical programs Excellent time management, organizational skills, and critical thinking capability

    Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills
