Billing Specialist

Preti Flaherty seeks a Billing Specialist to join our Finance Department. We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our Finance Department based in Preti’s Portland, ME office to assist with law firm billing functions as outlined below. The Billing Specialist will provide support to the Director of Accounting, the Billing team, and other members of the Finance Department.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter and team player who is willing to accept direction yet work independently. Candidates must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and must be detail oriented, highly organized, and able to prioritize workloads, manage multiple projects, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• associated with generating, editing, and finalizing client invoices in all required formats.
• with attorneys and assistants on all aspects of client billing records, time entry, and accounts receivable.
• review, verify, and edit time/cost detail to ensure accuracy of client invoices
• and depositing incoming client funds to firm IOLTAs and disbursing funds as authorized by case attorney(s).
• and maintaining accurate billing related client and matter data.
• internally and externally regarding account status and related information.
• financial reports.
• duties as assigned.

Skills & Competencies

• candidate will have thorough knowledge of law firm billing processes and third party invoicing platforms.

• level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

• school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
• years of accounting / finance experience strongly preferred.
