    Responsible for following set recipes and menu specifications. Always placing customers and safe food handling first. May work in any food venue depending on business needs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    •Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh.

    •Following recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients.

    •Bake, grill, steam, and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods.

    •Present, garnish, and arrange final dishes.

    •Occasionally serve food.

    •Maintains a positive restaurant culture.

    •Follows company safety and security policies and procedures. Reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.

    •Execute opening and closing procedures.

    •Monitor station inventory levels.

    •Accommodate guests’ special requests.

    •When needed, may assist with inventory, ordering, putting freight way and/or cleaning.

    •Cooks and prepares a variety of foods, quantities, styles, according to the menu and demand of the business.

    •Uses and or learns proper knife skills, cooking techniques, cooking methods and terminology.

    •Maintains and communicates with Chefs and Managers regarding the foods/products needed to ensure safe par levels and proper stock levels.

    •Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitized work area all while following all state, tribal, and federal health/food safety regulations, and codes.

    •Responsible for making sure that all areas of their assigned venue/outlet/kitchen are taken care of, and all assigned duties are completed.

    •Responsible for all food/storage areas (refrigeration, freezer, and dry storage) are kept clean, organized, labeled, and dated.

    •Responsible for all equipment, tools, floors, workstations, and food prep areas are kept clean and organized, as well as free from all clutter, trash, and non-approved items.

    •Responsible for fulfilling kitchen record keeping and administrative requirements including food inventories and invoicing of food products.

    •Follows company safety and security policies. Reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.

    •Maintains constant awareness of services, promotions, and events offered by Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel and informs guests.

    •Recognize guest dissatisfaction and attempts to remedy the situation.

    •Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes all tasks.

    •Performs related duties as assigned.

    •Must comply, complete, and maintain all assigned online training programs before due dates.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    •Must be able to work independently and dependently as a member of a team.

    •Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    (G7-G8/ S1-3 DOE)

    •A high school diploma or GED required;

    •one (1) year or more as a basic cook;

    •or an equivalent combination of training, certification or experience.

    (G9/ S1-3 DOE)

    •AA Culinary Arts Degree, certification or similar field required;

    •Four (4) years or more in related food and beverage service and food preparation positions;

    •or an equivalent combination of education, certification, experience or training.

    (G10/ S1-3 DOE)

    •Bachelors’ degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or Business Management or related field required;

    •Seven (7) years or more of professional kitchen or similar experience;

    •or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, or experience.

Must be able to communicate effectively in person, while on the phone, while using intercom/microphone, and in writing.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, AND REGISTRATIONS

    •Must be able to submit supporting documents of education and training (High School Diploma, GED, Degree, and Certificates). if applicable.

    •Must be able to pass a complete background investigation.

    •Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening.

    •Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers certification within 90 days of employment.

    •No driver's license is required but preferred.

    This job operates in a public work environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.     The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud.
