Bereavement Coordinator plans and provides bereavement counseling and support to survivors. Assesses individual needs and coordinates with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and deliver a holistic support plan. Being a Bereavement Coordinator guides survivors to appropriate bereavement resources. Facilitates grief support group sessions. Additionally, Bereavement Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree in social work. May require the applicable State License to Practice Clinical Social Work. Typically reports to a manager. The Bereavement Coordinator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Support Group Coordinator

  • Position Description: The peer support group coordinator is a position which plays a vital role in facilitating the smooth operation
    of peer support groups. Collaborating closely with the group program supervisor, this role involves
    coordinating the preparation, implementation, and conclusion of support group sessions. The coordinator
    will ensure that facilitators and participants have a positive experience and that the group dynamics are
    well-managed.

    Job Description:


    Essential Functions/Performance Requirements:
    A: Direct Responsibilities/Duties
    1. Work closely with the group program supervisor to ensure effective coordination and alignment
    with program goals.
    2. Collaborate with the group program supervisor to prepare curriculum and assist in gathering
    curriculum materials to conduct pre-group sessions for a team of 8-12 facilitators.
    3. Welcome and organize family members by greeting family members as they arrive for support
    group sessions by providing a warm and inviting atmosphere.
    4. Organize participants for group assignments into respective support groups after the meal portion
    of the session and direct to appropriate group facilitator and room assignments.
    5. Ensure smooth transitions and a positive experience for all participants.
    6. Conduct closing circle with families by leading the closing circle to provide participants with a
    sense of unity at the end of the support group session.
    7. Run post-group session with facilitators to facilitate post-group sessions with allowing them to
    debrief, share observations, and discuss any challenges. Provides communication and
    collaboration among facilitators to continuously improve group dynamics and provide feedback,
    insights, and recommendations for enhancing support group sessions.

    Education/Skills/Training and Experience:
    1. Previous experience in group facilitation, peer support, or a related field is preferred.
    2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    3. Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
    4. Sensitivity and empathy when dealing with individuals in a support group setting.
    5. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently when needed.
    6. Familiarity with peer support group dynamics and best practices.
