Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. The position of Behavioral Health Medical Director will conceptualize how the practice will scale and the preferred candidate will be entrepreneurial minded in order to perform the administrative functions of the role. As Medical Director – Behavioral Health Services, you will be part of an exciting new model of care combining good old-fashioned bedside manner with utilizing innovative technologies to dramatically improve patients’ lives.
Job Duties And Responsibilities- Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of developing and implementing our comprehensive Behavioral Health program, policies, and procedures according to federal, state and local regulations; and current practice of post-acute and long-term care medicine.
- Participate in the hiring of our Behavioral Team, with goals of supporting 100 skilled nursing facilities across 7 states.
- Coordinate medical care, including emergency treatment procedures, maintain effective liaison with attending physicians, and implement methods to keep the quality of care under constant surveillance.
- Provide necessary Behavioral Health services for those residents within the skilled nursing facilities and/or clinic environment
- M.D. or D.O. required
- ABPN board certified preferred
- Experience in Geriatric Psychiatry, Adult Psychiatry and Substance Use Disorder required
- MD or DO license
- 5 years of experience working with long-term care population preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with and educating NP’s, LISW’s and Psychologists
- Health care management/leadership experience
- Familiarity with CMS, Medicare Advantage, SNP Rules and Regulations
- Inpatient/SNF utilization metrics and bed day management
- State specific collaborative practice agreements and midlevel practitioner licensing
