Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Horizon Health is seeking a Program Director to oversee the Behavioral Health Program at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, AZ. The unit is a 24 bed, adult inpatient unit. There is also 2 IOPs, and will soon have a Medical Detox unit, Substance Use IOP, and later on a Geriatric unit. Included in these responsibilities are: 1) the development and maintenance of a high-quality treatment program; 2) the development and implementation of a comprehensive community relations program; and 3) strategic planning, program administration, and development. The Program Director will provide supervision to Program Horizon employed clinical and administrative staff.

    Responsibilities:

    • Performs as liaison between Program, Hospital and Horizon; communicating information and needs appropriately
    • Supports Hospital and Horizon missions, goals and objectives
    • Provides leadership and direction in accordance with Hospital guidelines
    • Provides clinical supervision for Program nursing, counseling, patient support and administrative staff
    • Develops, in coordination with assigned VP, Clinical Practice, implements and updates all policies and procedures for the Program
    • In coordination with the Hospital, ensures the Program meets and maintains all federal, state, local and accrediting bodies’ regulations and standards
    • Participates in assessing and reassessing the program needs of the patient
    • Supervises all patient care and sets guidelines for accurately reporting and recording of patient symptoms, reactions, and progress
    • Develops processes to audit and coordinate ongoing education to ensure all staff are trained on proper documentation of all aspects of the patient’s care
    • Recruits, interviews, and selects qualified staff for the Program.
    • Provides for professional growth and development of staff through identification of needs, development of individual training plans and participation in training programs
    • Defines goals and objectives of the treatment program under the direction of hospital administration and Horizon leaders
    • Collaborates with medical and clinical staff in coordinating and managing the medical and psychosocial treatment plans
    • Participates in assessing and reassessing the program needs of the patient
    • Supervises patient care and set guidelines for accurately reporting and recording
    • Maintain patient privacy
    • Assure quality of care
