Jonathan Club is an upscale, members-only, private club located in Santa Monica on the beach.

Club facilities include food & beverage outlets both casual and fine dining, luxurious meeting spaces, and a state-of-the-art athletics facility featuring wellness programs and spa services. These are the positions we will be interviewing for, please note that these positions pay an already established flat rate as they are non-gratuity-based positions.  

 As Jonathan Beach Club Banquet Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of food and beverage service for members and guests. The Banquet manager will be tasked with working closely alongside the Banquet Director, Food and Beverage Manager and the Director of Food and Beverage to ensure member satisfaction. The candidate will be a part of the Food and Beverage team working all holidays including Sundays, club events, non-banquet events such as supporting the dining room and surf side grill. The candidate must have a great outgoing personality and be able to build a great rapport with our membership and bring a vibrant energy to the department in an upscale manner, while also being hands on. The selected ideal candidate will play the key part of making Jonathan Club an exceptional place its members could truly call a home away from home 

The Banquet Manager is responsible for: 

• Operations of banquets food and bar service and staff.
• Oversees Banquet systems and controls the flow for great service.
• Ability to read and understand BEOs generated by Catering department.
• Attends all BEO meetings and asks pertinent information to better serve our members and guests
• Responsible for recruiting, successful on-boarding, continued service training
• Responsible for scheduling staff based on the weekly distribution of banquet event orders and change-log
• Good working rapport with the culinary team, open communication prior to and during an event
• Has a thorough understanding of the property's capacities for bookings and oversees training for others in this area as needed.
• Supports training for others with their knowledge level regarding the club’s food and beverage products and services.
• Ensures members’ and guests’ satisfaction and troubleshoots any issue as needed.
• Follows proper alcohol and beverage control regulations by ensuring all banquet employees are California state mandated Alcohol and Beverage Control trained
• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work office area.
• Adheres to and promotes health department standards.
• Ensures proper storage of equipment and handling of food to meet health department requirements.
• Maintains a safe work area through good housekeeping. 
• Keep safety equipment in good working condition.
• Actively participates in health and safety training, prevention.
• Identifies and corrects hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Participates in accident investigations.
• Maintains focus on health and safety issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management's attention or corrects at own initiative.
• Understands and oversees the execution of events through steps of service.
• Understands and oversees proper closing of an event.
• Works closely with Banquet Director on projects in various areas including but not limited to areas such as stewarding, inventory, uniforms control, and linens.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by direct reports.
• Attends all club training such as but not limited to: CPR, BFA, food handlers, safety planning such as evacuation, natural disasters, utility outage

Requirements

• Positive, upbeat, and motivating leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both in person, over the phone, and in writing.
• Flexible availabilities including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work in a high-volume operation.
• Must be highly organized and detailed oriented.
• Comfortable knowledge level regarding product and property information.
• Demonstrates willingness to learn.
• Comfortable knowledge of word, excel, outlook, adobe (pdf)
