Bakery Clerk responds and attends to customer requests in the bakery department within a grocery store. Responsible for various duties including preparing baked goods and other items for sale, arranging and wrapping bakery products, and placing bakery items in display cases. Being a Bakery Clerk may operate machines such as bread slicers. Has knowledge of proper food handling procedures. Additionally, Bakery Clerk may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Bakery Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Equipment use: Oven, Fryer, Slicer, Wrapping Machine, Bread Molding Machine, Cake Cutting Band Saw, Batter Mixer, Scales, Box Cutter, Garbage Compactor, Cardboard Baler, Forklift, Pallet Jack, etc.

Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, sit, twist and bend; hands to fingers to handle and feel: repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl. Use of step stool and ladder. Lifting 30 pounds and may include floor to shoulder and overhead
Communication: Ability to write, speak, hear, and/or understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to team members and guests’ needs. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
Education: Food Handler’s Permit required.
