    PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

    The Sociology Faculty member will be a dynamic and engaging member of the MCC teaching faculty. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching, advising and outreach to the communities served by MCC. The instructional content assignment will focus on sociology and related fields such as history, geography, or political science. The faculty member is responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course. The new faculty member will be creative and committed to teaching excellence with a passion for continuous improvement and assessment of student learning. The faculty member will promote the program and help to build enrollment with the help of marketing and recruitment personnel.


    A variety of instructional delivery modalities (synchronous, online, remote) will be utilized via WebEx/Zoom and a Learning Management System. The faculty member will also work with part-time instructors throughout the College's service area to provide mentoring activities and help with the implementation of assessment strategies. The faculty member may be asked to teach one course in the summer semester for additional remuneration. Teaching assignments may be scheduled at various times including evening and weekend offerings. The faculty member shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in Sociology from an accredited institution.
    • Teaching experience in Sociology or related disciplines.
    • Strong technological skills and experience in using the MS Office suite.
    • Must be willing and able to travel as required by position needs.
    • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as necessitated by course schedules.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in Sociology with 18 graduate credits in History, Geography, or Political Science from an accredited institution.
    • Two (2) years of full-time or four (4) years of part-time teaching experience in higher education.
    • Experience with distance education.
    • Demonstrated success in working with students from diverse backgrounds.

    Anticipated Start Date: August 2024


    Salary and Benefits:

    $55,100-$68,900 based on education, skills, and experience. Benefits include health, life, dental and vision insurance, LTD & benefit package including tuition reimbursement in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.
