Job Title: Associate Professor of Mathematics
Reporting Structure: Chair or Dean of Department
Division: College of Science, engineering, & Mathematics
Duties- Primary duties are classroom instruction of undergraduate mathematics with a commitment to student learning. Course assignments each semester may range from freshman level liberal arts mathematics to senior level courses.
- The full-time teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
- Faculty members should expect to be involved in department activities, student advisement, student recruitment, mentoring at-risk and low-level students.
- Additional duties will include holding 10 office hours per week, participating in departmental, college or university committees/activities and attending commencement activities.
- Teaching opportunities during the summer may be available depending on enrollment. Summer assignments are not guaranteed.
- Applicants should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or applied mathematics. Preference will be given to applicants with areas of specialization that complement existing faculty.
- Applicant should have a strong commitment to teaching at a liberal arts school. Evidence of successful teaching at the college level is required.
- Bethune-Cookman University is specifically seeking instructors who are committed to maintaining high academic standards for courses preceding calculus and who have an interest in teaching these courses.
- Applicants who are available to teach both day and evening courses are preferred.
- Applicants who have experience with online teaching are preferred.
- A record of research and publication is preferred, but not essential. Evidence of research with diverse populations is desirable.
- Experience in Data Science is desirable, but not essential.
- The candidate must be prepared to affirm and support the Christian and liberal arts mission of Bethune-Cookman University.
