Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Summary

    As a member of the Student Affairs Division, this position provides support and case management for ACC students, serving as the primarily liaison to student, faculty and staff who take courses or provide services at the Sturm and Legacy campuses or online. The position partners with Student Affairs departments, the college’s behavioral intervention team and all engagement activities for student belonging. The Associate Dean works collaboratively with all students, faculty, and staff in supporting students with any needed student service, partnering with appropriate college departments, and providing leadership for organizational goals in conjunction with the strategic direction of the College. Each ACC faculty and staff member is expected to participate in the College's assessment process, utilizing the results for continuous institutional improvement. The Associate Dean serves as a front-line staff member to assist with any student issues related to Title IX, EEOC, ADA at Sturm and Legacy campuses. The Associate Dean is responsible for working with a team of college investigators, including assisting with recruitment, training, compliance, and ongoing professional development. The Associate Dean assists with federal and state Civil rights compliance (including, but not limited to: Title IX/EO, Clery, ADA, OCR) and issues impacting access, student success, equity, and retention.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree in student development or closely related field from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. An equivalency will not count towards the three-year experience requirement below.
    • 3 years higher education experience with increasing responsibility including supervision. 
    • Certification and ongoing training in civil rights investigations. 
    • Working knowledge of Section 504 and ADA; FERPA; Civil Rights laws in addition to topics and current legal implications in a post-secondary setting.  
    • Knowledge of threat assessment and crisis intervention, state and federal regulations governing student confidentiality and judicial policies/procedure.  
    • Experience in Student Affairs, Student Life, Judicial Affairs, Orientation/New Student Programming, and/or Residence Life.  
    • A strong commitment to serving students in a community college setting. 
    • Demonstrated leadership and administrative knowledge. 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
    • Experience with student information systems and conduct databases. 
    • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning & work environment and demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds. 

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bilingual skills, preferably Spanish. 
    • Ability to manage and coordinate several programs, activities, and services simultaneously. 
    • Experience with Maxient. 
    • Experience with Single Stop.
    • Experience working in a community college setting. 
    • Knowledge of Banner or similar student records system. 
    • Strong management and organizational skills. 
    • Excellent communication, teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to serve a diverse population of both internal and external customers. 

    Physical & Cognitive Demands

    The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

    • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
    • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment.
    • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
    • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
    • May be required to work out of any ACC campus location. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required. May require occasional in- and out-of-state travel to attend conferences and other events.

    Advertised Salary Range

    Salary range for this position is $85,003 - $95,204, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
