    The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in the Tagliatela College of Engineering (TCoE) at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track assistant/associate professor position in mechanical engineering. The expected starting date is August 2023.

    The department comprises 9 full time tenured/tenure track faculty, including 6 in mechanical engineering. The BSME and MSME degree programs have enrollments of about 110 and 70, respectively.

    Primary Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses and conduct independent and collaborative research. Desired teaching areas include renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, thermal/fluid science, and multidisciplinary engineering foundation courses. Desired research areas include renewable energy, thermal/fluid systems, advanced manufacturing, automation, and/or product design. Candidates with interest in active learning, experiential learning, and student engagement are desirable. Interest in advising a mechanical engineering student club and industry experience will be considered favorably. Service to advance the Department, wider University community, or professional organizations is expected.

    Qualifications

    • PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the date of appointment with expertise in the areas of renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and/or automation. Experience in thermal/fluid science with primary expertise in thermodynamics, thermal/fluid systems design, and energy conversion is desirable.
    • Must have a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Must be strongly committed to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, advising, and laboratory skills development.
    • Must be collegial and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Two years of relevant full-time industrial experience in the related areas is desirable.
