Assoc. Professor - Civil Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of civil engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Civil Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Civil Engineering typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Duties:

    Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned by the civil engineering department head; developing and maintaining internationally recognized externally funded research; pursuing scholarly activities and leading student organizations; maintaining and improving labs for the civil engineering department.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited institution
    • An ability to initiate and sustain a successful externally funded research program
    • An ability or potential for excellence in teaching and research at the undergraduate and graduate levels
    • PE license in Montana or the ability to become licensed in Montana within three years of employment
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • College teaching experience
    • Postdoctoral or industrial experience
