Assoc. Professor - Biology teaches courses in the discipline area of biology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Biology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Biology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Talladega College is seeking an Assistant Professor to teach Biology courses in the Biology program. This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Department Chair and is slated to begin in fall 2024.
Responsibilities- Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research
- Teaching responsibilities to include innovative and engaging use of technology in the classroom
- Establish a competitive and productive research program that provides opportunities and mentoring for undergraduate research
- Compete for extramural grant support
- Assist students in identifying and applying for research internships, fellowships and acceptance to graduate and professional schools
- Develop research collaborations with colleagues at Talladega College and other institutions
- Collaborate with teaching faculty to incorporate research in courses
- Serve on division and college committees
- Other duties as assigned
- Ph.D. in Biology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Three years’ experience in higher education
- A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with colleagues and students, promoting diversity and equity
- The ideal candidate will have excellent teaching skills, good interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to function collegially as a member of the faculty
