Job Description and Requirements
The Assistant Principal of ATHS will support the Principal in remaining compliant with all state and federal laws, requirements related to testing, and all state board of education policies. The Assistant Principal will work in partnership with the Board, students, families, and staff to achieve the mission of ATHS and create positive change in trade education and workforce development. The Assistant Principal will provide day-to-day educational leadership under the direction of the Principal and assume the following key responsibilities:
· Support the implementation of the school’s mission and philosophy;
· Assist in establishing enrollment objectives and maintaining procedures for admissions;
· Aid in the preparation of the annual budget proposal and ensure that financial resources are carefully managed within budgetary guidelines;
· Support the delivery of student academic programs and services consistent with school values, teaching style, and mission/philosophy, and help assess student performance;
· Assist in defining and developing teaching and non-teaching professional faculty positions, recruiting highly effective employees, establishing a positive workplace environment, promoting professional development, and assessing teacher performance;
· Analyze current educational trends, and assist in planning and implementing strategies for school improvement;
· Help establish positive communication standards and school culture for employees, students, alumni, and families;
· Promote the school within the community and to all stakeholders under the guidance of the Principal;
· Create and implement a student recruitment strategy including attending events (at churches, local municipal events, parks events, local parades etc.), setting up and running events at the school such as Trade Days, and scheduling and attending multiple parent information events. Many of these events may fall on nights and weekends;
· Assist in preparing annual budget proposal, ensure that financial resources are carefully managed within budgetary guidelines;
· Support academic and vocational programs to align with the school’s mission and industry standards.
· Oversee and manage student discipline procedures, ensuring a fair and consistent approach.
· Manage school operations and safety, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining a safe environment.
REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must have five years of experience in school leadership and hold a NC license in school administration or the completion of an approved program in school administration at the master's level or above that will transfer to a NC license in school administration. A Master’s Degree in school administration and Career and Technical Education experience would be preferred but not required. High school leadership experience is also highly desired. The candidate must have strong relationship building skills and be comfortable with a wide variety of stakeholder relationships. The candidate must enjoy and have a reputation for being present for daily interactions with the student body and staff. The Assistant Principal must be a positive leader for the school with an open-door policy and an enthusiasm for excellence.
