  • Alaska Power & Telephone has a 3 full-time opportunities for Customer Service Supervisors based in Alaska. The Customer Service Supervisor will oversee a team of Customer Service Representatives in providing exceptional service to our customers, handling escalated customer inquiries, and ensuring smooth operations within the customer service department. This position will ensure all team members are cross trained and able to assist customers in both power and telecommunications, oversee the call center and assist team members during customer interactions, ensure team members are prepared to meet billing deadlines and assist them with completing both power and phone billing. An ideal candidate will stay current on all changes in regulations and services we provide and ensure CSR team is aware of any changes. As a Customer Service Supervisor, it is imperative that the chosen candidate ensure their team members have the knowledge to perform all aspects of their CSR role to the best of their ability.

    We are looking for a dependable, unflappable person who excels at juggling multiple tasks and providing exceptional supervision and customer service.     Job Duties And Responsibilities

    • Supervise and mentor a team of customer service representatives, assign daily tasks and ensure that task deadlines are met.
    • Handle escalated customer inquiries and provide resolutions, refer to management when customer issues/complaints cannot be resolved.
    • Ensure customer service standards are met and maintained.
    • Collaborate with other departments to address customer concerns.
    • Monitor team performance and provide feedback for improvement.
    • Conduct training sessions for customer service representatives.
    • Strive to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
    • Assist with monthly power and phone billings for multiple properties.
    • Assist with Miscellaneous billing, meter maintenance in command center and CIS, monthly meter reads, and monthly billing reports.
    • Work with other departments to complete projects ie mapping, billing.
    • Monitor incoming calls to the call center and assist CSRs with any issues that may arise while assisting customers.
    • Work with team of CSRs to process line Extensions.
    • Work with the CSR manager on any policy/procedure changes. Communicate any issues or concerns so we can trouble shoot and come up with a resolution.
    • Documents and upholds department policies and procedure, ensure your team is following.
    • Participate in safety meetings.
    • CSR team member timekeeping, including setting appropriate staffing levels and approving requests for time off.
    • Conduct CSR team member annual performance evaluations.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability to be a team leader and work in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to handle difficult customer interactions to a positive resolve
    • Ability to stay current and up to date on all aspects and needs of the position

    Education Required

    • Must have a H.S diploma or GED

    Experience Required

    • 5 years' experience in a business office setting 
    • 5 years' experience in Customer Service
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Excel & Word
    • Experience working for an electric or telecommunication

    Experience Desired

    • 5-10 years' experience working as a CSR in Power and Telephone Utilities
    • Excellent communications skills both in writing and verbal
    • Strong customer service skills including the ability to support CSR team when dealing with an emotionally charged customer.
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Well versed with customer service management systems
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to adapt to change.
    • Knowledgeable in regulations regarding phone and power

    • The employee is regularly required to hear, talk, sit and use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and phone
    • The employee may occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms and lift, handle, or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust vision.
