Ambulatory Services Director directs the staff and programs of the ambulatory services department. Oversees, administers, and coordinates all activities and operations of the ambulatory services for the health care facility, including outpatient clinics, outpatient surgery, and urgent care centers. Being an Ambulatory Services Director develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for ambulatory services and programs. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Ambulatory Services Director ensures non-emergency care clinics operate within budget and in accordance with performance standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Ambulatory Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Medical Assistant - Ambulatory Services

    • JOB SUMMARY
        This position requires the employee to have a thorough understanding of the clerical and clinical operations of the department/ambulatory clinic. The employee will be responsible for verifying patient information, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit. The employee will prepare the patient for examination by obtaining vital signs and performing preliminary physical tests. Tasks required of the medical assistant may include but not be limited to audiometry, visual testing, pulmonary function testing, drug and EBT screening, EKGs, venipuncture, injections, referral management, prior authorization, procedure scheduling etc.. The employee is responsible for consistently and accurately documenting patient information. The Medical Assistant will report directly to the Clinic Manager and may be given additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by management to ensure the success of the clinic.
    • EDUCATION
      • This individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
      • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program preferred.
    • LICENSURE
      • N/A
    • EXPERIENCE
      • Prefer minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
      • Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience.
      • Must quickly become familiar with front and back office functions such as medical terminology, managed care plans, medical insurance claim filing and charge entry, and various other functions of the clinic.
    • CERTIFICATION
      • Prefer certified level Medical Assistant or an applicant who has been thru training and is certificate eligible.
      • Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis), or be willing to obtain upon employment.
    • COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
      • Standard office and medical equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software, electronic health records, and various clinical equipment that may be used to carry out the duties of the position.
      • Excellent computer skills are necessary to perform various job duties in the clinical area as well as the front office function.
    • JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
      • Knowledge:
        • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
        • Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
        • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
      • Skills:
        • Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
        • Skill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
        • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
      • Abilities:
        • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
        • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
        • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
        • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
