Summary: Designs and drafts working layouts and master drawings of components, assemblies, and systems specifications, sketches, models, prototype or verbal instructions by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyzes specifications, sketches, engineering drawings, ideas and related design data to determine critical factors affecting design of components.
Draws rough sketches and performs mathematical computations to develop design and work out detailed specifications of components.
Applies knowledge of mathematical formulas and physical laws and uses conventional and computerized work aids to make calculations.
Makes revisions to size, shape and arrangement of parts to create practical design.
Confers with Engineer Manager to resolve design problems.
Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
Makes any adjustments or changes necessary or desired.
Updates Bills of Materials through manufacturing system.
Draws charts for representation of statistical data.
Draws finished designs from sketches.
Uses computer assisted drafting equipment and software.
Contact vendors and customers regarding parts and projects.
Address and resolve drawing, part problems on the manufacturing floor.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design Technology or a related field of study
- Two or more years of related design or manufacturing experience
- Working knowledge of 3-D Modeling software (Creo preferred)
