Additionally, Accounts Payable Clerk responds to vendor inquiries and assists with the research of any discrepancies in billings and payments. May utilize accounting software and systems to manage invoices and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounts Payable Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Responsibilities- Receive, process, and verify invoices related to accounts payables
- Track purchase orders and reconcile all expenses to monitor the outflow of the business
- Maintain records and statements in compliance with laws, regulations, and company standards
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
- Complete payments and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
- Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries
- Pay vendors while monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal id numbers, scheduling, and preparing checks
- Resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation
- Ensure credit is received for outstanding memos and issue stop-payments or purchase order amendments when needed
- Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
- Generate reports detailing accounts payables status as needed
- Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Support other company accountants as needed.
