Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Additionally, Accountant typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Accountant work is closely managed. As a member of the onsite Finance team, the person will report to the Lead Accountant. This position is responsible for the financial statement analysis and month end processes. The role will conduct month end closing duties and provide accurate and timely reporting relating to the internal costs for the operation of the plant. Your responsibilities will be: Accounting Process, Management Reporting & Internal Control Systems Maintain financial control and plant performance reporting system (financial statements, KPI’s) in accordance with company policies and procedures and following standardized reporting formats Maintain and enforce appropriate internal control of financial and operational processes Report weekly and monthly sales by part/platform to senior management Prepare balance sheet review packages for parent company under IFRS guidelines Prepare year-end audit file and assist external audit process Liaise with internal and external auditors and corporate officers Prepare full cycle monthly closing (AR, AP, Inventory, & Fixed Assets on a 2 day close cycle) Ensure that G/L mapping is correct and in accordance with parent company guidelines Submit monthly financial results to parent company Assure maintenance of complete records supporting G/L including sub-ledgers and account reconciliations Determine accruals and maintain cut-off procedures Maintain inventory valuation and analysis; Coordinate physical inventory and reconcile with book amounts Maintain A/P and A/R sub ledgers regarding fixed assets Review all journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations Analyze variances and report on significant issues Maintain production monitoring activities (inventory, scrap, machine/labour efficiencies) Initiate and implement cost management controls and contribute to Continuous Improvement ideas Develop ad hoc models to support materials, engineering, human resources, and operations QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE: Qualifications: Professional accounting designation Degree (Preference in Business/Accounting major) Excellent understanding and thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures 3-5 years of accounting/finance experience (with preference in a manufacturing environment) Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially excel Ability to interact effectively with management, plant personnel, auditors and various finance personnel at other divisions High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
