GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the Supervision of the Director of Student Access and Opportunity, and under the direction of the Coordinator of Federal Grants, the Coordinator of Family Engagement for Federal Grants provides leadership and support to schools in developing and implementing effective family engagement programs. The Coordinator assists schools in developing and planning Title I and Title III division wide family engagement activities and workshops, organizing literacy and math workshops, and facilitating meetings of the Parent Advisory Committees. The Coordinator supports schools with documentation for state monitoring reviews, parent orientation meetings, and engagement initiatives to ensure efficacy under the Federal Grants. Additionally, the Coordinator collaborates with various programs, conducts professional development for school staff, manages resources, and ensures compliance with ESSA Title I and Title III requirements. This position also involves organizing home visits, evening meetings, and workshops to enhance family support
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSA/Federal Grants - Support
- Coordinate and annually update the division’s family engagement procedures for Title I schools, including writing parent compacts and school policies.
- Liaise with the McKinney-Vento Liaison to help ensure information dissemination in schools.
- Provide technical assistance on ESSA Family Engagement (FE) compliance and monitor Title I and Title III FE mandates.
- Work with the Specialist for Translation and Interpretation Services to support English Learner (EL) families and help in setting standards for parental communication, including non-English languages.
- Lead countywide family support groups for key populations (Spanish, Urdu, Farsi/Dari, Arabic).
- Monitor the Title I FE budget and facilitate the use of funds for engagement activities.
- Ensure parental input in program planning and evaluation, in compliance with Federal Grant requirements.
Division Level Support
- Plan, develop, and help conduct Title I and Title III divisionwide parent and family workshops.
- Work with schools to implement Parent University as a district-wide Title I parent initiative, including training on behavior expectations, literacy, and mathematics.
- Provide content-focused professional learning.
- Provide strategic communications to stakeholders, including central leadership, principals, leads, specialists, coaches, department chairs, and others regarding state and local mandates, updates, procedures, resources, and initiatives as needed.
- Based on the schools’ need assessment, research and help develop and implementation plan of best practices for FE activities,
- Work with school leaders and families to implement and assess program activities.
School-Based Support
- Provide support to school leadership teams in developing and monitoring FE schoolwide plans/School Improvement Plan goals.
- Assist principals in organizing documentation for the district’s FE Title I program for state monitoring reviews and promoting annual fall parent orientation meetings.
- Conduct FE needs assessments for Title I schools and maintain documentation of FE program activities for VDOE monitoring.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating school- and division-based parent advisory committee meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related area. Master’s degree, preferred.
- Virginia Postgraduate Professional License in Administration and Supervision, or ability to secure same, preferred.
- A minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience with diverse populations required.

- Keeps abreast of the latest research, best practices, developments, and techniques in parent and family engagement
- Thorough knowledge of Stafford County Public Schools organization and K-12 curriculum, program of studies, policies, and federal and state testing practices related to instruction
- Experience in determining program evaluation criteria and implementing ongoing program evaluation
- Ability to analyze student performance and participation data to assist with completing a comprehensive needs assessment and identify root causes
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency and experience in leading teams

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is inside, with low noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
- The work is light work, requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
