Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff. Being a Women's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Women's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Women's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Department of Athletics at Michigan State University is searching for an Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach to assist the Head Women's Gymnastics Coach with all aspects of the Gymnastics Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist in the organization of team training with staff on Vault and Floor, for practice sessions and competition
    • Assist in the planning of team travel, scheduling, NCAA paperwork and ensuring program compliance with NCAA, B1G and university policies, procedures, rules and regulations
    • Assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes
    • Assist in the planning of fundraising and alumni relations activities, along with our own “Perfect-10 Boosters Club”
    • Participate in the continued development and implementation of the Spartans Gymnastics summer camp program
    • Assist with facility and equipment management, including daily upkeep and communicating equipment wear and tear issues
    • Participate in continuing education conferences, workshops, or meetings to increase professional development
    • Promote and market the program through all aspects of current social media
    • Demonstrate a sincere interest in the social, emotional, academic development, as well as athletic welfare of the student-athletes

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.
    • three years coaching experience at a highly competitive collegiate
    • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with prospective student-athletes, student-athletes, staff and University personnel
    • Candidate must display a commitment to responsibility for adhering to all the policies, rules and regulations of MSU, the Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA
    • Knowledge of marketing and social media
    • Proficient understanding or experience in Dance, or Dance Performance with the ability to recognize student-athletes' experiences and ways to challenge them
    • Computer skills necessary
