Web Applications Development Manager manages the design, development, and maintenance of internal and external websites for an organization. Oversees web applications developers to ensure that websites are built and expanded based on evolving technology and business needs. Being a Web Applications Development Manager creates and implements standards for website appearance and navigation. Requires knowledge of common web development languages (e.g., HTML, Java, PHP, JSP, ASP.NET, Python, AJAX.) Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Web Applications Development Manager typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Web Applications Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Web Applications Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Job Description
The Web Manager is responsible for oversight and maintenance of the Cameron University website. This position is a member of the Office of Public Affairs. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Job duties as Web Manager include but are not limited to:- Developing, adapting, and coordinating web-ready content to support the university’s mission.
- Maintaining a website that is usable by all campus constituencies, including compliance with ADA accessibility standards.
- Serving as a system-wide resource to provide expertise and support for departmental content editors and providing regular training to them.
- Monitoring trends in interactive web technology (through web statistics, analytics) to develop proactive strategies that reflect current SEO trends.
- Ensuring that the website is compatible with most mobile devices.
- Providing quality assurance checks on all web pages (fixing broken links and misspellings and notifying departments of accessibility errors) before content goes live.
- Coordinating distribution of digital information on social media and to TV monitors across campus.
- Assisting with social media coverage to promote campus programs and events.
- Coordinating with Public Affairs staff members for after-hours and emergency notifications and alerts on the CU website and/or social media platforms as needed.
The Web Manager reports to the Senior Director of Public Affairs.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia design, computer science or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of HTML coding, CSS, JavaScript, and website design and maintenance, especially involving content management systems.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as be creative and energetic.
- Ability to remediate documents (including interactive forms) using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Basic knowledge of accessibility principles, guidelines and practices.
- Three years of experience in website design and maintenance.
- Knowledge of content management systems and responsive website design.
- Knowledge of social media platforms.
- Basic knowledge of accessibility principles, guidelines and practices.
- Knowledge of multinational Software-as-a-Service companies; especially SiteImprove.
Commensurate with education and experience.
